Welcome
We are St Stephen Lutheran Congregation Culcairn and we're part of a bigger church family, the Lutheran Church of Australia and its local church district here in NSW.
We believe that God's love is for all people, and we want the experience of his love to spring to life in us – and in you.
Who are we at St Stephen Congregation?
We are the southern part of the Henty Lutheran Parish, half way between Albury and Wagga Wagga, in NSW. Our parish is a three-point parish, the other two being St Paul's at Henty (incorporating St Paul's Primary School) and St John's at Pleasant Hills.
Here at St Stephen in Culcairn, we are a small friendly congregation, more like a family than a church structure. Yes, we are a small but active group, with at least 25 members regularly attending worship. Our congregation acts much like an extended family, visiting and encouraging members who may not still be attending regular worship. We celebrate with each other the important milestones such as birthdays and anniversaries, as well as spiritual milestones such as baptism anniversaries. We are a welcoming bunch, making sure that any visitors feel right at home. Currently, we have a music team of three musicians: keyboard, flute and singer. We use data projection to lead our worship, with a couple of dedicated sound technicians.
Younger members are being encouraged to be involved in worship by assisting with the technology, as well as serving holy communion and helping at Sunday school.
We believe that we are relaxed in our worship, using a mixture of worship styles, combining traditional with modern. When our pastor is not around, we utilise both male and female lay readers, who take turns leading worship on the first Sunday of each month and when needed on other occasions.
Our pastoral care team takes responsibility for the spiritual welfare of members, each team member caring for a group of families.
